In conducting an investigation to shed light
on the facts of the cause, police officers took down
the statements of the plaintiffs and arrested the
Accused;
The confessional statement of the plaintiffs
shows in substance that O.G.J brought them
to Burkina Faso; that she wired money to a
lady in Nigeria named Blessing who in turn left
them in the custody of a man who drove them to
Ouahigouya; that Blessing had told them they
would come and work as waitresses in Odion
Grace Jennifer’s maquis, but upon arrival, she told
them that apart from working as waitress in her
maquis “le lingot d’or”, they were also going to
work as prostitutes; that after they had finished
prostituting themselves throughout the night,
they had to give back all the money to O.G.J
who claimed they owed her CFA F 1 200
000 (one million two hundred thousand) each;
When arrested by the police, O.G.J
acknowledged she had received 4 girls from
Nigeria through one of her friends; that she first
of all inquired about what type of activity they
wanted to carry out in Burkina Faso before sending
their transport allowance; that she spent CFA F
800 000 (eight hundred thousand) to get each of
them to come; that she then asked them to repay
her this amount with a CFA F 200,000 (two
hundred thousand) surplus for a total amount
of CFA F 1,000,000 (one million) each; that
apart from working as waitress in her maquis
these girls indulged in prostitution;
When she appeared before the Legal
Department, the State Counsel of Faso at the
said court pressed charges of pimping in
flagrante delicto against O.G.J pursuant to article
533(22) of the Penal Code;
When interrogated by the State Counsel
of Faso, O.G.J, simply acknowledged the charges
of pimping levied against her; she explained
that a lady got Blessing in touch with her from
Nigeria, telling her that two girls will come and
wok with her; that she sent CFA F 800,000
(eight hundred thousand) as transport for each of
these girls except Bedemi Nina whose transport
cost CFA F 580,000 (five hundred and eighty
thousand); that she asked them to repay
those amounts gradually;
