An Act of Parliament to make provision about sexual offences, their definition, prevention and the protection of all persons from harm from unlawful sexual acts, and for connected purposes. The Act is the key Act regarding sexual and gender based violence in Kenya. It contains 49 Sections and two Schedules. It includes definitions and punishment in relation to several offences, including indecent acts (Section 2), rape (Section 3), sexual assault (Section 5), defilement (Section 8). Section 9 covers Attempted defilement, section 10 Gang rape, section 11 Indecent act with child, Section 12 Promotion of sexual offences with a child. Further definitions are available for child trafficking (Article 13), child sex tourism (Article 14), child prostitution (Article 15), child pornography (Article 16), trafficking for sexual exploitation (Article 18), prostitution of persons with mental disabilities (Article 19), incest (Articles 20 to 22), sexual harassment (Article 23), Sexual offences relating to position of authority and persons in position of trust (Article 24), deliberate transmission of HIV/AIDS (Article 26).
