S.J is accused of assaulting a boy and causing him to faint. S.J explains that she hit the child because the child had insulted her, by calling her a harlot, and eventually claiming she was lying when she reported the incident to the child's mother. The accused claims that she hit the child just once in order to correct him, and when the child fainted, she stayed by till the child got revived and was taken to hospital, and that she took care of the medical bills. While the child's mother provides a different version of the incident, a witness makes claims that somehow corresponds to those of the accused, though adding that the child was merely joking when she said the accused was a liar. After examining all arguments and evidence, including medical records, the Court finds the accused guilty of assault, and hands her suspended sentences of 50,000 FCFA, with obligation to pay the victim compensation worth about 31,500FCFA representing the costs of medical prescriptions she incurred.
