Summary

"This particular law pursues the following objectives:

Guarantee to the child the right to benefit from the various measures in the administrative, social, legal, educational, health and other fields in order to protect her or him from all forms of abandonment, neglect, and physical, moral, psychological and sexual exploitation and abuse;
Disseminate and promote the culture of children's rights and duties and to communicate these intrinsic features so as to ensure the full development of his personality and to prepare him for his civic responsibilities;
Involve the child in all regards by appropriate means that could assist in acquiring the virtues of work, initiative and personal effort;
Cultivate in him the values of solidarity, tolerance, peace and mutual respect in order to get him to realise the indivisibility of rights and duties in relation to the rest of the community;
Strengthen the responsibility of parents, families and the entire community with regard to the child. " The law has five Titles divided in 202 Articles: I. General provisions; II. Social protection of the child; III. Legal protection of the child; IV. Criminal protection of the child; V. Transitory, annulling and final provisionsl. Article 61 concerns exploitation and sexual abuse, Articles 169 and 170 the related punishments.
