Summary: Mr. Mankoule Tirera was accused of attempted robbery and rape, offense punishable underarticles 3, 226, 252 and 257 of the Criminal Code. The Kayes Court of Appeal heard the case and referred the accused to the Assizes Court for trial in accordance with the law. A majority of the Assizes Court held that the accused was guilty of the charges against him. However,there were extenuating circumstances in favor of the accused.
