The Act contains nine Parts: I. Interpretation; II. Rights of the child; III. Support for children by local authorities; IV. Family and Children Court; V. Care and protection of children; VI. Foster care placements; VII. Adoption; VIII. Approved homes; IX. Parentage of children; X. Children charged with offences; XI. Miscellaneous, plus two Schedules. Part II. includes section 5. Duty to maintain a child, "(2) Any person having custody of a child shall protect the child from discrimination, violence, abuse and neglect."
